1. Complete Steps 1 from the surface-mount instructions. If your cabinet is wider than the distance between the studs, consult a professional. Confirm there is no plumbing, wiring or venting before cutting wall.
2. Have your helper hold cabinet against the wall in desired location. Open the cabinet door while it is held against the wall. Make sure there are no obstructions, like faucet or vanity lighting when opening the door. Confirm cabinet is level and outline cabinet with a pencil. Use utility knife to score the outline of cabinet. Use a keyhole saw to cut the marked section and remove drywall.
3. Using a drill with 3/16” bit, drill 4 holes into sidewalls of medicine cabinet. Holes should be at same height as holes on back of cabinet and 1.5” from the back of cabinet.
4. Install a horizontal 2x4” (perpendicular to studs) at base of medicine cabinet. Ensure it is level and screw it into the studs. With your helper, set medicine cabinet in recess with base resting on 2x4”. Ensure that the medicine cabinet is set back so the lip is uniformly flush with wall.
5. With uniform depth and cabinet level, drill screws into studs through side wall holes from step 3.
